The 5-3-3-2 and 16 HCP is a little less problematic but should evaluate good or bad 16 and open this with bad 16 and use 1♣ for a good one

Weak 1NT can open with 5 of the major but if using 1NT should be a rag 5 card suit and bid this anytime it is a mid to good suit

  • Could be an escape from spades, favor responding another 4 card suit rather than rebid the 6 card
  • Only bid at the low end because you are void
